ABOUT: No other group of Geneviève Claisse’s works radiates as much warmth, strength, and energy as her circular compositions. In the second half of the 1960s, she developed an intensive interest in the circle, dedicating numerous large-scale works to this theme throughout the following decade. Whether in acrylic, gouache, screen printing, or relief and sculpture, the circle became central to her artistic exploration. Few artists have engaged with this shape in such a profound way, but for Claisse, the perfect form of the circle represents purity, perfection, and joy.
