ABOUT: Marevna moves away here from a cubism inspiration and a structure of space by diagonals. It is part of the Pointillist heritage, also recalling its origins and more broadly in the Nordic tradition of still life that Marevna had been able to see at the Louvre during her time in Paris or during her studies.
This still life seizes with its freshness. On a table are arranged a glass and a Russian carafe and lemons. The touch is pointillist and its pastel tones are intensified by the use of complementary colors. The color forms the shadows and the relief. By its neutral background, the scene is timeless, suspended as if the artist had prepared this table for the amateur.
